Visiting friends in Cardiff

During our stay we visited the lovely church of St Cadoc in Llancarfan, The Knap near Barry, and Llandaff Cathedral.

St Cadoc

The 12th century church probably lies within the grounds of the monastery founded by the early Welsh saint, and it contains wonderful 15th century wall paintings which were preserved by being painted over as the favoured styles of church decoration evolved over the following century. Among other subjects, they depict the Seven Deadly Sins.

Sloth, one of my favourite sins…

Enjoying the paintings.

The Knap is an attractive recreation area popular with dog walkers. It was created from a decrepit Victorian Lido, close to Barry Island.

We moved on to Llandaff Cathedral, actually the cathedral of the city of Cardiff.
