Bayreuth, Germany

In August 2016 we spent a week in the Bavarian town of Bayreuth to go to Richard Wagner's opera festival: we saw the 4 operas of The Ring, plus Parsifal.

We had plenty of time to walk around the lovely medieval town between the operas. Although heavily damaged by the RAF during WWII, it has been reconstructed and now has a lively and artistic feel.

Germany has some of the most restrictive street photography laws in Europe - basically one is not supposed to take an identifiable image of any other person for any purpose without their permission. However, as I had found out during an earlier trip to Budapest where restrictions are apparently similar, nobody took the slightest notice.
